SHILLONG, JUN 24: Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) has secured the top spot among private universities in Meghalaya in the IIRF India Ranking 2026, while also placing 2nd across Northeast India and 60th nationally.

The ranking by the International Institutional Ranking Framework recognises institutions for excellence in academics, research, placements, and overall institutional performance.
MLCU’s performance placed it ahead of other private universities in the state and among the leading institutions in the Northeast.
The university also topped Meghalaya in the latest Education World India Higher Education Rankings 2026.
EducationWorld is among India’s most respected assessments of higher education, evaluating universities on academic reputation, faculty quality, curriculum and pedagogy, infrastructure, student support, research, and employability outcomes.
