Meghalaya Speaker inspects new Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang

Shillong, March 24: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker, Thomas A Sangma, conducted a detailed inspection and chaired a comprehensive review meeting on Monday at the construction site of the New Assembly building in Mawdiangdiang.

The meeting, aimed at assessing the progress of the under-construction Legislative Assembly building, witnessed the active participation of several high-ranking officials. Timothy D Shira, Deputy Speaker; Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister In-charge of Parliamentary Affairs; Andrew Simons, Commissioner & Secretary; Malthus Sangma, Additional Secretary; and Cyril V. Darlong Diengdoh from the Parliamentary Affairs Department were in attendance. Officers from the Meghalaya Assembly Secretariat also joined the meeting.

Representatives from key line departments, such as the Public Works Department (PWD), Parliamentary Affairs Department, Design Associates, and other Assembly officials, were present to provide inputs and updates on the project.

Post-inspection, a joint meeting was convened to discuss the progress of the project and address any challenges or bottlenecks. During the discussions, Thomas A Sangma expressed satisfaction with the review meeting’s outcomes and highlighted the necessity of collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of the project.
