SHILLONG, JUL 15: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Meghalaya has achieved 89.03% coverage with 20,91,781 Enumeration Forms distributed out of 23,49,645 total electors as of July 15, according to the status report released by the Chief Electoral Officer.
The exercise, being carried out under the directions of the Election Commission of India, aims to prepare an accurate and error-free electoral roll ahead of upcoming elections.
As per the report, 6,72,094 Enumeration Forms have been digitized so far, accounting for 28.60% of the total electors in the state.
The CEO’s office stated that house-to-house distribution of Enumeration Forms by Booth Level Officers is in full swing across all 12 districts, and continuous digitization is being ensured to meet ECI timelines.
District-wise data shows significant variation in progress.
South West Garo Hills leads in distribution with 99.96% coverage, followed by West Jaintia Hills at 99.33% and North Garo Hills at 96.62%. South West Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi also feature among the top five districts for form distribution, recording 96.39% and 94.79% respectively.
On the digitization front, East Jaintia Hills tops the list with 48.01% of forms digitized, followed by South West Khasi Hills at 46.02%, Eastern West Khasi Hills at 41.36%, South West Garo Hills at 40.33%, and West Garo Hills at 38.57%. East Khasi Hills, the district with the highest number of electors at 6,32,146, has recorded 78.60% distribution and 14.08% digitization to date.
Key highlights noted by the CEO’s office include the successful download of all 3,551 Enumeration Form parts by BLOs, representing 100% completion, and that SIR activities are on track to be completed as per the schedule prescribed by the Election Commission.
The CEO has appealed to electors who have not yet received or submitted their Enumeration Forms to cooperate with BLOs during house-to-house visits and complete the process at the earliest.
Voters have also been advised to contact their respective BLOs for any assistance.
