Meghalaya Martial Artists win Gold at World Championship in Sri Lanka

Shillong, March 15: Meghalaya’s martial arts scene has reason to celebrate as four local athletes brought home gold medals from the recently concluded 2nd World Jeet Kune Do Championship in Sri Lanka.

Representing Meghalaya and the country at the championship held at the Provincial Sports Complex-Digana, Kandy, Sri Lanka from March 10 to March 12, the athletes from the Meghalaya School of Martial Arts (MSMA) demonstrated their exceptional skills and emerged victorious in their respective categories.

Their triumph was met with much fanfare upon their arrival in the city on Wednesday, as they were given a heroic welcome and felicitated by various dignitaries, including Assistant Secretary Central Body of the MSMA Erik Nongkynrih, and Adorable Dkhar, the Secretary of the Seng Kynthei Laitkor Mawrie Lumheh, along with family members and well-wishers.

The four athletes have made the state proud by showcasing their talent on a global stage and bringing back the gold medals. Their success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes and their coaches, as well as the support and encouragement of the local community.
