SHILLONG, SEPT 16: The Meghalaya government has notified the combined counselling SOP for admission to 138 MBBS seats for 2026-27, with the process to be conducted by the Meghalaya State Counselling Authority for Medical Education (MSCAMA) on the basis of NEET-UG 2026 ranks.
The 138 seats comprise 96 seats under Central Pool and other quotas allotted to Meghalaya and 42 state quota seats of the newly sanctioned Shillong Medical College (SMC).
As per the SOP, the 96 seats include 53 Central Pool, 14 NEIGRIHMS, 16 RIMS Imphal, 10 in Assam Government Medical Colleges and 3 in Tripura. Reservation will be 39 each for Khasi-Jaintia and Garo, 14 Unreserved and 4 SC/OST.
Of the 50 seats sanctioned by NMC for SMC this academic year, 8 will go to All India Quota and 42 to State Quota, to be apportioned as per the State Reservation Policy — 40% Khasi-Jaintia, 40% Garo, 15% Unreserved and 5% SC/OST.
Eligibility mandates Class XII with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English, minimum age of 17 years by December 31, 2026, besides domicile and indigenous status with PRC and category certificates.
Counselling will have four rounds including Stray Vacancy Round, with online registration, document verification and physical reporting.
Provisions for seat surrender, PwBD assessment and tie-breaking have also been laid out.
The government has made a five-year mandatory service bond applicable for students admitted under state-sponsored seats, to serve in government or recognized mission hospitals.
A control room, helpdesk and grievance mechanism will function during the counselling period.
Candidates have been asked to follow only official notifications from MSCAMA and to beware of fake notices and fraudulent websites.
