SHILLONG, OCT 29: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Transport Sniawbhalang Dhar on Thursday said the government is examining the controversy surrounding the Shillong Ropeway project and expressed hope that it will be resolved in a few weeks.
“Controversy is there and we from the government are examining the matter. We hope it will be okay in the next few days, few weeks. The project is as per law, we have obtained all necessary clearances from all concerned departments,” Dhar said.
He said such issues are temporary and take time to make people understand.
“It will be okay. These types of issues come and go, don’t worry it will be solved. Sometimes it takes time to make people understand because it is such a big project. We did not rush it and we followed step by step as per law and the Chief Minister has clarified very well. Before sanctioning we got all necessary clearances and then we called tender,” Dhar said.
He said the government and district council will have to work together.
“Government knows how to work and the district council works in its own way but we have to work together for the benefit of the people. Yes, maybe some questions are there but no issue, we will work together,” he added.
