Shillong, July 17: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday has announced that the newly Eastern West District will soon get its new full fledged Deputy Commissioner (DC) office at Mairang.
The development was announced during his speech at the programme to remember the 188th death anniversary of U Tirot Sing Syiem, organised by the Syiem and the Durbar of Hima Nongkhlaw.
Speaking at the occasion, CM said, “We will be sanctioning the new DC office very soon. So the first target will be to have the Deputy Commissioner office here since the new district has been given, and therefore it would be a natural process to follow through by giving a deputy commissioner DC office a full fledged permanent office”.
In his speech, the Chief Minister also assured support for the Syiem of Hima Nongkhlaw in improving and overall beautifying the office.
Emphasising on the overall development in all District Headquarters, Chief Minister Sangma said that the government is working towards in improving ‘Three important infrastructure’ – Convention Centres and Auditoriums, Artificial Turf to improve sports performance of the youths and Movie Theatres or Cinema Halls with an objective in ensuring that the local movies, the local filmmakers are allowed to make movies and films on Meghalaya and in our local language.
“Of course everything cannot happen in one go, everything cannot happen in a year’s time. It’s a process we will do it in a phase wise manner. But, this is a goal that we have set for the next five years at least for this district headquarter infrastructure apart from many of the targets”, he added.
