Meghalaya earns Rs 121.88 Cr royalty from mining leases in 2024-25

SHILLONG, FEB 23: The state has collected ₹121,88,80,979 as royalty from mining leases in 2024-25 and ₹118,07,96,682 in 2023-24.

In 2024-25, revenue from cement companies via state GST stood at ₹49,16,45,880, compared to ₹51,50,87,041 in 2023-24, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said in a reply tabled in the Assembly on Monday.

“The percentage of local people employed in the 10 cement companies is 74.25%,” Sangma said.

Lafarge Umiam Mining Pvt Ltd paid ₹30,08,45,600 in royalty in 2024-25 and ₹29,00,05,680 in 2023-24. The company, registered under the Companies Act, 1956, pays royalty and cess on limestone exported to Bangladesh.
