Shillong, Jan 27: The budget session of the eleventh Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will commence from February 16 to February 27.
There will be ten working days of which seven days have been allotted for government business and three days for private members’ business.
Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma on Tuesday said that the calendar for the Assembly session has been approved by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).
“We will have ten full working days – three days for private members business and seven days for government business,” he stated.
He further informed that the State Budget will be presented on February 20.
The Speaker added that sitting hours may be extended, if required, to enable members to effectively participate in the proceedings of the House.
He also informed that on the day the Supplementary Demand for Grants is taken up, the sitting of the House will be extended till 3:00 PM.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Parliamentary Affairs Prestone Tynsong.
The Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Mukul Sangma, and Member Paul Lyngdoh participated in the meeting through online mode.
