Shillong, May 10: The Meghalaya Agriculture Students Association (MeASA) has expressed its gratitude to the Meghalaya Government, Indian Army, officers from Meghalaya and Manipur, parents, college authorities, transport department, and everyone involved in the safe evacuation of all the students studying in Imphal.

In a letter of appreciation, the MeASA thanked Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, I&PR Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma, PHE Minister Marcuise N Marak, Subir Marak, NGOs, SP Tura, DIGP Shillong, and everyone who helped during their tough times, making the operation successful.

“We really appreciate the good works that you all have done to us and will always remember it,” Joyshelman D Sangma, MeASA’s President, COA, CAU, Imphal, said in the letter.

It can be recalled that due to the recent widespread ethnic riots in Manipur, the students from Meghalaya studying in Imphal were stranded. Realising the situation was going from bad to worse, Meghalaya Government immediately began evacuation of its students and citizens from the State. In the 5-day operation, Meghalaya govt evacuated 242 students and citizens from Manipur.
