Tura, Jan 30: The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations for 2026 commenced across the state on Friday and will continue until February 11.
At examination centres in Tura, students were seen arriving early and going through last-minute revisions ahead of the first paper, English, as authorities ensured smooth conduct of the examinations.
This year, the SSLC examinations are being held earlier than in previous years as part of efforts to align the examination schedule with the academic calendar.

The revised timeline is also aimed at providing students who do not clear the examinations on their first attempt an opportunity to reappear in failed subjects through a supplementary examination.
The supplementary examination system, introduced last year, allows candidates to rewrite individual subjects they fail without having to wait an entire academic year.
As per the examination schedule, Science will be held on February 2, followed by Health and Physical Education/Computer Science/Vocational Subjects on February 4, Social Science on February 6, Mathematics/Special Mathematics on February 9, and Indian Languages/Additional English on February 11.
