The house, located in Hawakhana in Tura has been extensively damaged with fire fighters from the Fire and Emergency department fighting the blaze for almost an hour before containing it.

Fortunately no one was harmed in the incident.

The blaze broke out just before noon and is suspected to have been caused by a electrical short circuit.

The house where the blaze occured is part of the compound where the ancestral home of the first chief minister is located.
