Manipur Violence: Amit Shah calls all-party meet on June 24, to discuss situation

Imphal, June 22: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has convened the all-party meeting on Saturday at 3 PM in New Delhi to discuss the situation in Manipur.

The news was confirmed on MHA’s official Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Amit Shah on Wednesday at 9.00 PM at his residence. According to reports, Sarma and Shah held discussions over Manipur issues.

Also, former Congress President Sonia Gandhi also made her heartfelt appeal for peace, harmony and reconciliation in Manipur.

This comes days after the Congress demanded an “all-party meeting” on the violence in Manipur saying that the country needs answers from the government over the conflict which is out of control in the state.

On Wednesday, an eight-year-old boy and two teenagers were gravely wounded in an IED explosion. The explosion took place near a culvert in Manipur’s Bishnupur district. Also, reports about while miscreants firing in at least two villages in Kangpokpi district was also reported.

According to security sources, the bomb was brought in an SUV and was planted near the culvert with an aim to damage the important Tiddim road between Kwakta town and Phougakchao Awang Leikai and prevent the movement of the Army and other security forces.

On June 13, at least nine people including a 32-year-old woman were killed in a clash between the attackers and villagers in Aigejang village in Kangpokpi district.

So far, more than 100 people have lost their live in the violence that started in the state on May 3.
