Imphal, July 22: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum’s (ITLF) women wing on Saturday held a massive protest rally at the Wall of Remembrance site near Peace Ground where dummy coffins of the fallen tribals have been kept by women folks.

The protest programme was organised against the parading of two Kuki women naked and later gang-raped.

Main speakers at the protest site comprised of religious leaders, social leaders and leaders from the women organisation.

Ngaineikim Chairman of the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights stated that she is against shedding of crocodile tears by some women organisation leaders.

“If they really love tribals, they (women folks or leaders) should not arrest any of our women and teenage girls and hand over to the men to rape and then kill them. So many other girls who are their children have been raped and then killed and their bodies could not be traced till date.”

She further said the chief minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh is shedding pretended tears because he is the one who planned all these atrocious acts against them and now they cannot accept his claim of sympathy and concern for victims.

Mary Jone, convenor of the ITLF’s women wing, demanded befitting punishment to the perpetrators and pointed out that such is their fate and subjection under the majoritarian domination, and that separate administration is a must for them.

“We want separate administration for the Kukis. We don’t want to live under this government. The atrocities against women have been done under this government and this government remains a mute spectator. So, we want separate administration for Kuki people,” Mary Jone stated.
