Imphal, June 18: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Manipur on Saturday said denied the allegations on support of UKLF in 2017 assembly election.
BJP said, the allegations made by six student and youth organisations was false and fabricated.
While talking to reporters in Imphal on Saturday, Elangbam Johnson, Manipur BJP Spokesperson said, “The allegation made by the six student and youth organisations were false and fabricated. BJP is a national party and will never be involved in these kind of involvement. We have so much national support. This was a politically motivated statement. Some political elements were behind such claims,”.
“If the case was in 2017, then this was 2023, why they have told now, why they had not told earlier. It was totally politically claim,” Johnson said.
He said, “Union Home minister Amit Shah has clarified that there will be no question of separate administration. The demands might be made by the MLAs under some stress.
On Friday, six student and youth organisations asked the BJP leadership to clarify its stand on the claims made by the militant outfit United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) that the outlawed group had backed the BJP candidates in 2017 assembly elections.
In a joint statement made by six student and youth organisations, said that it could be possible that the Kuki militants supported the BJP during the 2017 election after getting an assurance that their demand of separate administration (equivalent of separate state) could be considered.
