Shillong, June 19: A man identified as Donald Sohtun has been arrested for allegedly murdering his live-in partner, Priya Khongstia and leaving her body wrapped in a blanket inside their rented house at Nongrah Nonglum, Shillong.
The murder is suspected to have taken place between May 25 and May 28, but the incident came to light only on May 30, when the house owner discovered Priya’s body and informed the police.
According to information, Donald allegedly strangled Priya and struck her on the head before fleeing to his mother’s house in Mylliem Mawpynthih.
He was arrested the on May 30 by personnel from Rynjah Police Station following an FIR filed jointly by the family and the house owner.
Family members said they last spoke to Priya on May 25 and had been unable to reach her since. The couple had reportedly been living together for over three months.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
