Major reshuffle in Meghalaya police: DIGs swap ranges, multiple SPs transfered

SHILLONG, MAY 12: The Meghalaya government has ordered a large-scale reshuffle in the police department, transferring 14 senior IPS and MPS officers across the state in a notification issued by Principal Secretary (Home) FR Kharkongor on Tuesday.

The orders, issued on the recommendations of the Civil Services Board and the Police Establishment Board, take effect from the date of taking over charge.

At the DIG level, Jerry Fisher K. Marak, IPS has been moved from Western Range, Tura to Eastern Range, Shillong, while Vivekanand Singh, IPS shifts from Eastern Range to Western Range, Tura in a direct swap of posts.

Among the battalion commandants, Siddharth Kumar Ambedkar, IPS has been transferred from the 5th MLP Battalion, Samanda to head the 6th MLP Battalion, Umran.
His predecessor at Umran, Ashish, IPS, will now serve as Superintendent of Police, VIS, Shillong.

Stephen A. Rynjah, MPS, who was SP East Garo Hills, has been posted as Commandant, 5th MLP Bn, Samanda.

Several district-level changes were also notified.

Shailendra Bamaniya, IPS moves from SP South Garo Hills, Baghmara to SP, CID, Shillong, with Ringrang T.G Momin, MPS taking over Baghmara from CID.

Pawar Swapnil Vasantrao, IPS has been shifted from North Garo Hills to East Garo Hills as SP, while Ishan Gupta, IPS moves from CM Security to North Garo Hills. Naman Kumar, IPS will now head CM Security, Shillong.

In Shillong city, Dangsan Khyriem, MPS has been appointed SP City, replacing Dewansh Pandey, IPS, who takes charge as Assistant Inspector General of Police (Law & Order).

Geffry Waemhok Lyngdoh, MPS moves from AIG (L&O) to SP, Eastern West Khasi Hills, Mairang. Hari Prasant M.R, IPS has been posted as SP (Traffic), East Khasi Hills against an existing vacancy.

The government said all postings were made in the interest of public service and will remain in force until further orders.
