Shillong, Aug 11: In a significant overhaul of the police administration in the Garo Hills region, the government has undertaken a series of high-profile transfers and appointments.
Vivekanand Singh Rathore, the current Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, has been reassigned to the role of Commandant of the 3rd Meghalaya Police (MLP) Battalion. Taking his place as the new Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, is Abraham T. Sangma, who is currently serving as the Superintendent of Police, South Garo Hills.
This rotation also involves Kamakhya Prasad, who has been relieved from his post as Commandant of the 3rd MLP Battalion, a position now assumed by Vivekanand Singh Rathore. Prasad’s next assignment is Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Shillong, a responsibility he assumes from Dr. Dara Aswaghosh. In turn, Aswaghosh’s has been transferred and posted as the Commandant of the 2nd MLP Battalion, which is currently held by Bruno A. Sangma.
Furthering this chain of reassignments, Bruno A. Sangma has been posted as the Superintendent of Police, North Garo Hills, Resubelpara, taking over the role from Shailendra Bamaniya. Simultaneously, Bamaniya has been reassigned as Superintendent of Police, South Garo Hills, Baghmara, in place of Abraham T. Sangma.
These transfers will take effect from the date of taking over charge or until further orders.
The directives pertaining to these strategic transfers and new postings were formally issued by Cyril V.D. Diengdoh, Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Home (Police) Department, on Friday.
