Shillong, Jan 20: The mortal remains of renowned Christian leader Rev Dr Rieweh Robert Cunville were laid to rest with full honours on Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church cemetery in Laitumkhrah, Lawjynriew, amid the presence of church leaders, dignitaries and hundreds of believers.

The day’s proceedings began with a prayer service at his residence in Upper Lachumiere, following which the body was taken to the Laitumkhrah Presbyterian Church for a special memorial service. The service was led by the Moderator of the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian (KJP) Synod Pdeng, Rev T Khongjee.
Tributes were paid by Dr Elaine Duncan of the United Bible Society, Roy Graham of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, and representatives from the Presbyterian Council of India and the KJP Synod Pdeng. Secretary of the Laitumkhrah Presbyterian Church, Elder Basan C Diengdoh, reflected on the life and legacy of Rev Dr Cunville, recalling his unwavering commitment to God, the Church, and his extensive missionary work in spreading the Gospel across the world.
Hymns were rendered by the Laitumkhrah Presbyterian Church Choir and Rev Terence Wanshong, adding a solemn and reverent tone to the service.

The funeral procession later moved to the cemetery, where the final rites were performed and Rev Dr Cunville was laid to rest, marking the end of a life devoted to faith, service and global Christian ministry.
