Shillong, May 15: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Delhi Unit on Wednesday rescued a young woman from East Jaintia Hills who was allegedly deceived and nearly forced into sexual exploitation in the national capital.

In a statement, KSU-Delhi said it received a distress call from the woman seeking urgent help, as she feared being followed by individuals with harmful intentions.

Acting immediately, the union informed the Delhi Police and accompanied them to the location where the woman was staying. Preliminary investigation revealed that she had been lured to Delhi under false promises, with the intent to exploit her sexually.

When the police and KSU team reached the premises, the suspects had already fled, leaving the woman behind. She was then taken to a safe location under government protection.

Authorities have initiated procedures to ensure her safe return to Meghalaya. Meanwhile, Delhi Police have registered a case and launched a search for those involved.

KSU has condemned all forms of violence and exploitation against women and urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious incidents. The union also thanked Delhi Police for their swift cooperation and continued support in matters concerning students and community welfare.
