Shillong, April 18: A woman from Meghalaya, working as a helper in Nagpur, Maharashtra, was allegedly subjected to physical abuse by her employer.

According to reports, the woman was beaten on her arm so severely that it became swollen and bruised. The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Delhi Unit, has taken up the matter and informed the Superintendent of Police (SP) of East Khasi Hills as well as Robin Hibu, who heads the Special Police Unit for the North East Region.

KSU leaders stated that both Robin Hibu and the Meghalaya Police have alerted the Nagpur police about the incident. The victim is now in police custody and has been taken for a medical examination.

It was reported that the employer has been arrested by the police.
