KHADC tables ₹34.44 crore vote on account as Budget session begins

Shillong, March 26: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) on Wednesday tabled a Rs 34.44 crore vote on account budget.

“The vote on account amounting to Rs 34,44,55,600 will be with effect from April 1, 2025 to June 30, 2025,” KHADC executive member in-charge Finance Seiborlang Warbah said while tabling the budget during a first day of the budget session held here.

He informed that the full budget will be tabled in the next session of the Council.

He said the budget will allow respective members in-charge to defray several charges which will come in the course of payment during the period ending June 30.

Warbah also informed that the vote on account budget aimed at disbursing the salaries of members of the council, officers and staff of the different departments (executive, legislative and judicial) including pensioners.

Of the total Rs 34.44 crore budget allocation, Rs 8,52,29,550 was allocated for General Administration Department, Rs 17,65,910 – Law Department, Rs 2,65,38,350 – Revenue Budget & Finance Department, Rs 2,57,05,470 – Forest Department, Rs 1,70,52,930– Administration of Justice & Judicial Department, Rs  2,27,65,040 – Legislative Department, Rs 3,87,640 – Education Department, Rs 15,82,93,940 – Civil Works & Development Department and Rs 1,67,16,770 – Enforcement Scheme for protection of Tribal Land & Interest.

Further, Warbah said that the executive committee wants the KHADC to set a good example by bringing good and corruption free governance as per the constitution of India.

“The EC also seeks to bring a new system of working to improve the functioning of the council,” he added.
