Shillong, Oct 13: Dr. WR Kharlukhi, the Rajya Sabha MP, has arrived at New Delhi Airport along with 26 others who were stranded in Betlehem while participating in a pilgrimage tour in Israel.

However, their pilgrimage was cut short due to the outbreak of war between Israel and Palestine.

The 27 Meghalaya citizens, including MP Kharlukhi, were promptly evacuated and proceeded towards Cairo, Egypt, on October 9.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has informed that he has maintained constant communication with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to ensure the safe return of the 27 Meghalaya citizens.

Visuals collected on Friday morning clearly indicate that the 27 Meghalaya citizens, including the Rajya Sabha MP and his family, have safely reached Delhi Airport. They were seen hugging and kissing each other with joy as they have returned back home safely.

According to sources, MP Kharlukhi will be arriving in Shillong on October 16.
