Guwahati, April 27: In a significant move aimed at preparing students for emerging technologies, the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) has announced the introduction of a new elective subject called “Artificial Intelligence and Robotics” that will be added to the Class IX curriculum from this year onwards. This was stated in a notification by the board on its official website. It said that the PDF version of the book is available on its official website, www.sebaonline.org, in the textbooks section.

Additionally, SEBA has announced a new examination format for HSLC 2025. It revealed that the HSLC 2025 examination will feature four separate question paper sets (A, B, C & D) for the Objective Multiple-Choice (OMR) format. This restructuring is expected to enhance the assessment process. Another significant change is that the “District Level Internal Examination Committee” will now conduct the practical examinations for all subjects. This decentralized approach aims to streamline the evaluation of practical skills acquired by students.

In language subjects like English, the questions will not be strictly limited to prescribed lessons or chapters. Instead, the emphasis will be on assessing the overall learning outcomes of the subjects, allowing for a more comprehensive evaluation.

For Science and Mathematics subjects, while questions may still be derived from textbooks, examples and references beyond the textbooks can also be included. Additionally, the examinations may require summations or calculations based on the specific learning outcomes of the content covered. SEBA has announced that the pattern of questions for vocational subjects will also undergo modifications aligning with the new guidelines outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
