Guwahati, Nov 8: “It’s the first time we are seeing this. We are very happy. I really like the fighter jets,” said an excited Ariyan Kumar Roy, his eyes fixed on the roaring Sukhoi aircraft cutting through the sky above the Brahmaputra.
Another young spectator, Anuska, shared, “It was quite motivating for us. Watching the Air Force inspired me to dream of joining it someday. The fighter jets and helicopters were amazing.”

For many children gathered at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati on Saturday, the rehearsal for the upcoming Air Show was not just a spectacle—it was an inspiration. “I saw it for the first time, and I liked the sound and the feeling of it the most. This show is the best — I really liked how the pilots communicated and performed,” said another young visitor.
Thousands of people, including families and students, thronged both banks of the Brahmaputra to witness the final preparations for the grand Air Show marking the 93rd Anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF)—the first-ever Air Force Day celebration to be hosted in Assam.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will arrive in Assam on November 9 to witness the historic event, which will showcase India’s aerial might and the IAF’s growing engagement with the Northeast.
The Air Show, organized from November 5 to 9, features over 150 aircraft, including the Rafale, Sukhoi, and MiG fighter jets, in a breathtaking display of precision and power over the Brahmaputra River near Lachit Ghat.
