Shillong, Oct 5: The Nongkseh Sports Social and Cultural Club (SS&CC) officially unveiled its Home and Away jerseys for the upcoming Shillong Sports Association (SSA) First Division 2024 on Friday afternoon.
The unveiling ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Myrank Thangkhiew, Headman of Nongkseh, Raid Saw Kur, along with other dignitaries including the Executive Committee (EC) members of the Dorbar Shnong of Nongkseh, players and Club management.
In addition to unveiling the jerseys, the Club also launched its official anthem during the same ceremony on Friday.
Founded in 1969, Nongkseh SS&CC is one of the oldest football clubs in Shillong. The Club has actively participated in the SSA League, experiencing both Ups and Downs over the years of its existence. It has once seen promotion upto the Super Division League (now known as the Shillong Premier League) and has also faced relegation upto the Third Division.
However, the Club’s prospects further improved under the leadership of its new President, Daniel M. Thangkhiew, and General Secretary, Marbiangdor Thangkhiew. In just two years, the Club has experienced a resurgence – earning promotion to the Second Division after a top-four finish in the Third Division, and this season it is set to compete in the First Division.
Ahead of this season First Division campaign, Nongkseh SS&CC signed several experienced and promising new players.
In which the Club has called for a trial on May 21-22 attracted 567 players from across Meghalaya, showiny the Club’s growing appeal.
For this season, the Club will be captained by an experienced and former I-League player Chesterpaul Lyngdoh, with vice-captain Armanki Kharkongor, who previously played for Nongthymmai SC in the Shillong Premier League.
Chesterpaul has been playing for five I-League clubs- Sudeva Delhi, Real Kashmir, Churchill Brothers, FC Bengaluru United and Mohun Bagan.
