Aizawl, May 5: A young girl named Lalbiakthangi is being hailed as a hero after saving a four-year-old boy from a house fire on Friday evening. The incident occurred in Chhippui village, located on the Mizoram-Bangladesh border in Mamit district.

According to reports, Jacob Laldinsanga, the four-year-old, was alone in the house when the fire broke out as his mother, Lalbiakmawii, was visiting a neighbor. Lalbiakthangi, who lives nearby, was the first to notice the flames at around 6:45 pm and immediately rushed to the house.

Unable to enter through the front door, the brave Girl climbed through a small window to rescue the boy. The fire destroyed the house which belonged to Zothanga.

Lalbiakthangi’s mother, Remi, heard her daughter’s calls for help and arrived at the scene. Together, they managed to get the boy out through the window. Lalbiakthangi then crawled out of the window herself, escaping without major injuries, although she lost her shoes in the fire.

The secretary of the Chhippui branch of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) commended Lalbiakthangi for her heroic actions in saving the child from the burning house. Her quick thinking and bravery have made her a hero in the eyes of the people of the state. Locals praising her courage on social media and some even suggesting she should be crowned “Miss Mizoram 2024” for her selfless act.
