Shillong, July 22: The 10th Meghalaya State Shooting Championship 2025 concluded on Monday at the Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) Shooting Range in Shillong, with shooters from the Garo Hills region delivering a standout performance that earned them a combined total of 13 medals.

The Shooting Association of North Garo Hills (SANGH), impressively bagged five Gold and two Bronze medals.

Claiming four Gold medals across the Youth, Junior, Senior and Free Pistol categories — Giting Rani M Momin, delivered an exceptional performance. She was coached by Davis C.K. Sangma, under whose guidance she showcased remarkable consistency and composure.

Jerash K Marak added to the district’s tally with a Gold in the 50M .22 Rifle Open Sight (Men’s category). His coach, Sunny Roagers G Momin, who is also a self-trained shooter, secured a Bronze in the same event — highlighting his dual role as both mentor and competitor. Chonley K Sangma rounded off the medal count with a Bronze in the Women’s 50M .22 Rifle Open Sight.

“This is more than just a medal tally. It’s a statement that raw talent exists in every corner of Meghalaya,” a SANGH official said, while also calling for greater investment in shooting sports across the region.

The Shooting Association of West Garo Hills (SAGH) also delivered a noteworthy performance, with an updated tally of one Gold, one Silver, and three Bronze medals.

Rangku Sangma led from the front with a Gold in the 50M Open Sight Rifle (Masters Men – Individual) and a Bronze in the 10M Air Rifle (Masters Men – Individual).

Walsall Momin added to the team’s success, securing a Silver in the 10M Air Pistol Mixed Team event, along with Bronze medals in both the 25M Sports Pistol (Men’s Individual) and 25M Centre Fire Pistol (Men’s Individual) categories.

In the Sub-Youth category, Badrisa Momin secured a Bronze in the 10M Air Pistol, further contributing to the district’s medal tally.

Officials from both associations praised the athletes for their discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship, describing the championship as a defining moment for shooting sport in the Garo Hills.
