Garo Hills’ pressure groups meet CM Sangma, seek release of their members

Tura, Aug 21: A delegation of pressure groups from Garo Hills met Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Sunday, and sought release of their members arrested in connection with the July 24, 2023 violence in Turn Town in West Garo Hills.

Leaders of pressure groups including ADE, FKJGP, AYOW, GSU and FAF met the Chief Minister.

ADE’s West Garo Hills unit president, Dalseng Bira Cheran, said the Chief Minister has promised to look into the matter as soon as possible.

Cheran said the future of its members will be jeopardised if they remain in jail, which is why they are seeking their release.
