Shillong, June 10: Four drug suppliers, including two women, were arrested along with a commercial quantity of heroin from Nongrah, Shillong on Monday night.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the state’s Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) police station conducted an operation leading to the arrest of the four suppliers, ANTF SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said on Tuesday.
From their possession, 62 soap boxes filled with heroin were recovered, he said.
He said a team was despatched to Lapalang on received of source information at 9.30 pm (yesterday) that a drug peddler Jeremy Dkhar is going to buy drugs from drug supplier Lamtinkhup Vaiphei of Lapalang.
On reaching Nongrah, Jerrmy was spotted roaming around at Dong Nongpdeng Nongrah and was immediately detained and then he led the team to the house of one Thangboi Khaute staying next to his house where he had concealed the contraband.
“Subsequently search was conducted as per procedure established under NDPS Act and 62 soap boxes filled with heroin were recovered. The total net weight of the contraband was found to be 691.54 grams. In this operation so far, four persons have been arrested, two male and two female,” the SP said.
A case has been registered at the ANTF police station vide case no 4(06)2025 under section 21(c)/25/27/29 of NDPS Act.
