Shillong, Feb 28: The start to the 2024 formula racing season in the country has gotten off on an exciting note for Meghalaya’s young racer Jaden R Pariat with a stunning victory in five out of six races in the back-to-back first two rounds of the just-concluded MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Car Racing Championship in the premier Formula 2000 class at the Madras International Circuit (MIC), near Chennai bringing pride to his home state, Meghalaya.
At just 17 years, Jaden Rahaman Pariat, who recently returned from a successful stint at the British F4 championship in 2023, came out triumphant in Chennai winning all the three races in the second round after bagging two of the three races in the first round, the previous weekend. He won all the races by a huge margin with a show of speed and driving skills and emerged the fastest driver on the track on all racing days.
He made Bengaluru his second home for the sake of motorsports, Pariat made his karting debut in the Meco FMSCI National Karting Championship in November 2020 for the Indian team MSport, and he competed for the title the following year and emerged as the vice-champion in the fmsci X30 Nationals 2021.
He switched to open-wheel racing in 2022 and participated in the MRF LGB1300 Challenge at the Madras International Circuit and the JK Tyre National Racing Championship at Coimbatore’s Kari Motor Speedway.
Later in 2022, he tested the Tatuus T-421 and participated in the final six British F4 races in the UK in September. His greatest performance was a respectable second place in the rookies at Silverstone, a first for an Indian, and seventh position overall.
Pariat, as part of Argenti Motorsports, displayed his immense talent with a podium in the first round of the ROKiT British F4 Championship at Donington Park in April 2023. He is only the second Indian and the first from Meghalaya to get an international podium in a Tatuus F4 car after Kush Maini’s podium in 2017.
In September 2023, he became one among the 25 selected from Asia Pacific to drive in the Ferrari Driver Academy at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia.
Pariat will continue in the Formula 2000 season and is shortly expected to announce his 2024 plans in Europe and India.
