Cricket: Meghalaya’s Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 campaign to begin tomorrow

Shillong, Dec 20: The selectors of the Meghalaya Cricket Association have named their squad for the BCCI’s senior men’s one day tournament, the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, with Meghalaya set to face Himachal Pradesh in their opener in Mumbai on Saturday.

The selection of the 15 players and standbys by the Senior Men’s Selection Committee is for the first two matches and will be reviewed on the basis of performance. Meghalaya’s second fixture will be against Railways on December 23. Like in the preceding T20 tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Meghalaya will utilise an all-domiciled squad with no guest professional players.

Akash Kumar Choudhary, Meghalaya’s foremost pace bowler, will captain the side. His deputy will be Lerry G Sangma. The squad comprises a mix of experienced players and fresh youngsters from the age-level state teams.

Meghalaya squad: Arien Bonchang Sangma, Arpit Bhatewara (WK), Lerry G Sangma (VC), Roshan Warbah, Kishan Lyngdoh, Md Nafees Siddique, Robert Sangma, Riboklang Hynniewta, Akash Kumar Choudhary (C), Himan Phukan, Nishanta Chakravarty, Aryan Borah, Adarsh Joshi, Ibitlang Thabah, Swarajeet Das.

Standbys: Pringsang Sangma, Wanlambok Nongkhlaw, Chengkam Sangma, Pankaj Mandal, Yogesh Tiwari.

Support staff: Prabhakar Bairgond (Head Coach), Moisten Ch Marak (Assistant Coach), Surojit Biswas (Physio), Vikash Singh Chauhan (Trainer), Amit Singhania (Manager).
