Guwahati, April 5: The Congress party has released its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, called “Nyay Patra” in the presence of top leaders of the Congress.
In its manifesto, the Congress laid emphasis on Paanch Nyay or or ’five pillars of justice’, including ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Naari Nyay’, ‘Kisaan Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’ and ‘Hissedari Nyay’ as well as the guarantees made by it to the people as part of its election promises for Lok Sabha polls.
The Congress promised to repeal the CAA, the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, and three laws replacing the Indian Penal Code, CrPC, and the Evidence Act. In the previous Lok Sabha elections, the Congress has promised to fill 4 lakh vacancies in the Central Government, PSU, Judiciary, and Parliament, and to introduce the Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY) providing Rs 72,000 per year to the poorest households. They also mentioned the omission of the sedition law and scrapping the electoral bond scheme.
The manifesto promised the scrapping of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2022, scrutiny of the PM Cares fund and investigation into the electoral bond scheme, a law to limit the collection of cesses as a percentage of tax revenues.
