Shillong, May 8: The opposition Congress on Thursday announced its decision not to be part of the All Party Committee constituted by the state government to examine the issue related to the proposed implementation of railway projects in the state.

According to the party, the government’s decision to form such a committee is only a hogwash to show they are involving everybody when reality is they want to put the blame on everybody on things which they cannot decide on their own.

“The Congress will definitely not be part of this committee because we don’t believe whenever you are running into sticky ground and you can’t decide on anything and you pull everybody together and blame everybody. It is not right,” Secretary of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Manuel Badwar told reporters.

“The view of the Congress is very clear. The government has not formed an all-party committee for many important things which are important for the state. They take the decision on their own. Why? Because they have the majority. So, it has been decided by the public at large for the MDA government to take decisions on their own. Now, whenever they are stuck on sticky ground and they can’t move left or right or centre, they like to pull everybody into the bandwagon and blame everybody. That’s not right. So why should the Congress participate in each and everything that they feel as if they can’t handle on their own. It just shows their weakness,” he said.

Badwar added, “They have been given the mandate by the public at large to run the show. They should run the show on their own and we will see if it is right or if it is wrong but to form an all-party committee what do they mean, it is just a hogwash, it is just to white wash everything and show people we are involving everybody. If you want to involve everybody then involve everybody in everything. Don’t just involve one agenda or the other if you feel you are on sticky ground that’s not acceptable. They have been given a mandate by the people to run the show so let them run the show.”

“Did they have an all party committee when they decided about casinos? They did not have. Did they have an all party committee when they decided about border issues? They did not have. So why pick and choose? “he further asked.
