Congress announces 2nd list of 5 candidates for upcoming Meghalaya assembly polls, puts up candidates in all 60 seats

Shillong, Jan 28: The Congress on Saturday released its second list of candidates containing 5 names for the 2023 polls to Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

The list approved by the central election committee (CEC) of AICC includes Jhanika Siangshai (Khliehriat), Arbiangkam Khar Sohmat (Amlarem), Chireng Peter R Marak (Kharkutta), Dr Tweel K Marak (Resubelpara) and Carla R Sangma (Rajabala).

With Saturday’s announcement, Congress has fielded candidates in all the 60 seats. It has fielded 10 women candidates.

Earlier on January 25, the party had announced its first list of 55 candidates including Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and Shillong MP Vincent H Pala, who will be contesting from Sutnga-Saipung constituency.

The other nine females candidates are Deborah Marak (Williamnagar), Rona Khymdei (Nongpoh), Bethleen Dkhar (West Shillong), Venetia Pearl Mawlong (South Shillong), Dr Banidashisha Kharkongor (Nongthymmai), Lakyntiew Sohkhlet (Sohra), Pynhunlang Nongrum (Mawkynrew), Victorealness Syiemlieh (Ranikor) and Uttora G Sangma (Ampati).
