Collision on NH-06 leaves one dead, another injured in Ri Bhoi district

Shillong, Jan 27: In a tragic incident, one person lost his life, and another sustained injuries when a Guwahati-bound truck collided with a four-wheeler and an auto-rickshaw at a car wash centre along the National Highway – 06 in Pahamrioh village, Ri Bhoi District on Friday.

The accident occurred around 12 p.m. when the truck, bearing registration number AS 01 MC 8136, lost control and collided with the parked four-wheeler, a Maruti Eco (ML 10 B 8800) and the auto-rickshaw (ML 10 C 9558).

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the four-wheeler, Anshu Kumar (20), succumbed on the spot, while the auto-rickshaw driver suffered injuries and was initially taken to Nongpoh Civil Hospital before being taken to higher healthcare facilities.

The truck driver fled the scene, and Nongpoh Traffic Police is conducting an investigation to apprehend the absconding truck driver, as per reports.
