BJP rejects VPP claim, Kharkrang says ‘Spa doesn’t mean prostitution den’

SHILLONG, APR 18: BJP chief spokesperson M Kharkrang on Thursday dismissed the VPP president’s allegation linking the proposed Taj resorts and spa project at Lumpongdeng Island to prostitution, saying a spa cannot be equated with such activity.

Responding to the allegation amid an ongoing hunger strike demanding scrapping of the tourism project at Lumpongdeng Island, Kharkrang said, “No I don’t subscribe to that view. In fact, lots of places have spas and all, doesn’t mean that they become prostitution den.”

“In fact, here also we have lots of these people who give massages and all. Are they involved in prostitution. No,” he added.
