Shillong, Dec 18: Nominated MDC Bindo M Lanong on Monday announced his decision to support the National People’s Party (NPP) led Executive Committee (EC) in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) led by Pyniaid Sing Syiem.
“Even though I have not decided to join any political party yet, I will officially submit my letter of support to the executive committee (EC) led by the NPP on Tuesday,” Lanong told reporters.
Lanong said he had taken this decision after the United Democratic Party (UDP) failed to respond to his letter in which he had expressed keen interest to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Shillong Parliamentary seat.
Lanong informed that he had also written to the party leadership in April requesting a chance for a new beginning after he decided to contest against the party’s official candidate from Nongkrem constituency in 2018 Assembly elections.
The former deputy chief minister said he had again written to the party in August on the matter but till date there has been no response to both his letters.
