Dibrugarh, Sept 11: Absconding Assamese actress-choreographer, Sumi Borah, on Wednesday, announcing her decision to surrender. Sumi also refuted the allegations against her as “baseless and fake.”
“I have decided to surrender to police. I will cooperate with police… I have not done anything, I am innocent. In the court of law it will be proved,” Sumi said in a video message, that has been widely circulated on X (formerly twitter).
She further said that she has faced lot of mental harassment in these past few days due to the news on her.
According to sources, Borah is likely to surrender before the police on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, Assam’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) in-charge CID, Sanjukta Parashar, arrived in Dibrugarh on Tuesday to investigate Bishal Phukan’s online trading case.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Parashar, has been formed to investigate the online investment scam linked to alleged fraudster Bishal Phukan.
The SIT’s focus is on Dibrugarh influencer Sumi Borah, accused of promoting the scheme.
High-ranking officials, including ASP Sizal Agarwal, DSP Arundhati Devi, Manash Bora & Bhargav Pratim Bora are part of this dedicated team, aiming to ensure a thorough inquiry.
Bokakhat police picked up Subhanjyoti Kurmi and Chandan Nath from their residence on Tuesday for helping Sumi Borah’s fleeing. They were brought to Dibrugarh police Station.
Subhanjyoti Kurmi’s mother revealed at Bokakhat that Kurmi had been working with Tarkik since 2016. She also mentioned that Subhanjyoti attended the wedding ceremony of Sumi and Tarkik in Udaipur in Rajasthan. Sumi and Tarkik travelled with Subhanjyoti from Guwahati to Latabari, Bokakhat.
