Boko, Nov 9: Two separate violent clashes erupted in Chamaria LAC on Saturday, underscoring the volatile nature of property disputes in the region.

The incidents, one in Achalpara village under Jorshimuli Police outpost and another in Kathalguri Char under Chamaria constituency, left several men and women seriously injured and heightened tension across the localities on Sunday.

According to reports, in Achalpara village, a quarrel among siblings and relatives over the division of ancestral land spiraled into violence.

The confrontation involved Miyan Chan Ali, elderly Basher Ali, and their sister Shukurjan Nessa.

Witnesses reported that heated arguments quickly escalated into physical attacks, leaving Basher Ali, Manik Ali, Azmal Haque, and others grievously injured.

All victims were admitted to the Goraimari Community Health Centre, though Azmal Haque’s condition was critical, prompting his referral to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Police at the Jorshimuli Outpost have registered separate FIRs and assured that investigations are underway.

Meanwhile, in Kathalguri Char, fourteen people were injured in a violent confrontation over char land ownership.

Local sources alleged that influential town-based leaders fraudulently sold portions of char land to outsiders, depriving genuine landholders.

The clash broke out between factions led by Amir Chan Ali and Sadeq Ali, both claiming ownership of the disputed land.

Armed with sharp weapons, sticks, and bamboo poles, the groups engaged in fierce attacks and counter-attacks.

Among the injured were Rukia Begum (35), Rajab Ali (54), Farizul Haque (37), Ayamna Khatun (60), Jainuddin (70), and several others.

One critically injured victim was also referred to GMCH for advanced treatment.

Both incidents highlight a recurring pattern of the area: unresolved disputes over ancestral and char lands frequently escalate into violent confrontations, threatening peace and law-and-order.

The presence of critically injured victims in both clashes has raised alarm among residents.

Local communities have urged immediate administrative intervention to restore peace and ensure justice for rightful landholders.

Authorities have assured that investigations will continue and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible.
