Assam tourist dies at Mawsawa falls

SHILLONG, MAY 26: A 25-year-old man drowned while swimming without a life jacket at Mawsawa waterfall in East Khasi Hills District.

The deceased was identified as Hemangshu Deka from North Guwahati near the Indian Institute of Technology, originally hailing from Nagaon, Assam. Deka was visiting Mawsawa Falls with friends when the incident occurred.

Locals at the waterfall helped pull the body out of the water.

The body was shifted to Sohra CHC for the necessary formalities.
