Assam Police officer tragically drowns in Brahmaputra River

Guwahati, Jan 7: Assam policeman, Kaushal Kalita, lost his life in an accident in South Salmara Mankachar. The unfortunate incident occurred when the policeman fell from a boat into the Brahmaputra River. Despite efforts, he drowned in the river.

According to reports, the cop, who is a PSO of the Deputy Inspector General of the district, was on his way to Bandihana police station by boat from Fakirganj in South Salmara.

He fell unconscious and slipped into the Brahmaputra River.

“The Deputy Inspector General of Police, including the Superintendent of Police of the district, was on their way from Fakirganj police station to Bandihana police station when suddenly the PSO fell from the boat and has gone missing since then,” said a police source.

A search operation was launched immediately after the incident.

After two hours of search operations, his body has been retrieved from the river Brahmaputra.
