Guwahati, Nov 12: One NSCN-KYA area commander was arrested following a clash with Assam Rifles on Saturday in upper Assam Tinsukia.
During the operation, Assam Rifles personnel seized one Chinese made rifle, several SIM cards and several incriminating documents.
According to sources, the NSCN-KYA commander was involved in various criminal and extortion related activities in Ledo, Bargolai, Lekhapani, Bomgarha, Tipong Lalpahar, Paharpur etc.
The militant member has been handed over to the Lekhapani police by the Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles have launched a massive operation against the NSCN-KYA in Longding, Tirap and Changlang areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
