Shillong, March 30: In order to provide better healthcare facilities, Meghalaya’s Minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, AL Hek, carried out a soft launch of his very own ARHI hospital on Saturday, which will cater to people in the Mawsmai, Jorabat areas, and the overall Northeast region.

Local MLA Sosthenes Sohtun and former DHS Dr. Aman Warr, along with the board members of ARHI (Angelcure Research Hospital and Institute), were present to witness the inauguration of the Outpatient Department (OPD).

Deciding on the location strategically, Hek mentioned that the intention to establish the hospital is rooted in the belief that ‘Service to man is service to God.’

This private 200-bedded hospital is located opposite the Northeast Cancer Hospital. It is expected to be fully functional as a multi-specialty facility in the next few months. So far, around 32-35 specialists have been recruited to meet the patients’ requirements. The number of doctors is expected to increase very soon, potentially reaching up to a hundred. Close to 300 nurses and medical technicians are also part of the hospital.

“We are recruiting nurses not only from Meghalaya but also from Assam and particularly from all parts of Northeast states,” said Hek.

Dr. Sandeep said, “We are specialists from different fields and pioneers in our branches, so we have experience and felt the need to come together with one common goal. Our unity will continue. We urge specialists from the Northeast and outside the state to come here and work together to achieve the same goal.”
