All buses stopped from plying to Police Bazaar and Motphran area in Shillong

Shillong, Dec 21: The District Administration of East Khasi Hills has prohibited the plying of all public transport buses towards the Police Bazaar and Motphran area from December 23 onwards.

The decision was been taken in view of the chronic traffic situation in parts of Shillong city.

“As per recommended by the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Shillong Traffic Police and with a view to address chronic traffic situation in parts of the city, this is to inform that all public transport buses (i.e. SPTS Buses and Private Buses) are hereby to stop plying towards Police Bazaar and Motphran area w.e.f. 23-12-2022,” an order by the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills on Wednesday read.

The order further said the Superintendent of Police (Traffic) will convene a meeting with all concerned operators/associations and Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to clarify on alternative routes.
