Tura, Aug 29: Minister in-charge of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, A. L. Hek, has assured to look into the challenges in the department and improve upon the existing infrastructure, especially in Garo Hills region.
He made this announcement during his maiden visit to Garo Hills.
After holding a review meeting with all the top level officials of the department in Garo Hills on Tuesday, he said the officers had highlighted the constraints and challenges faced especially in the different farms located in the Garo Hills region.
He said the deliberations were wide ranging on various issues as well as achievements of various farms/institutions under the department with the concerned officers.
“The review meeting (for the entire Garo Hills) was to review and examine the existing infrastructure, farms in Garo Hills and ways to improve them and bring in innovative projects in the future,” he said.
Acknowledging that there are lot of shortfalls, he assured that a lot of things will be improved in the department.
As a part of this visit, the Minister inspected various Govt. Farms as well as other institutions under the department.
He also released two motorcycles sanctioned under Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) meant for the 1st Batch of MAITRI’s (Private AI Worker) in order to enable them to provide timely Artificial Insemination (AI) services at the farmers’ doorstep.
