6th KSU leader picked up near NEIGRIHMS for Aug 19 bike rally violence

SHILLONG, SEPT 12: Crackdown continues on the KSU black flag bike rally violence.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya police has arrested a sixth leader of the Khasi Students’ Union.

Banjop Dkhar, president of KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle, was picked up from near NEIGRIHMS on Friday night. He will be produced before the court today, a KSU leader said on Saturday

With this, total arrests in the case have gone up to six.

Five top leaders are already in custody — president Raymond Kharjana, vice president Pynkmenlang Sanmiet, general secretary Reuben Najiar, assistant organising secretary Jeremaiah Pohthmi and Mihngi Circle general secretary Samuel Kharbani.

The August 19 rally turned violent — 2 vehicles burnt, 31 vandalised, 18 people assaulted.

Police have slapped charges under MMPO Act, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and BNSS for unlawful assembly.
