Baridua, Sept 7: A woman was apprehended by residents of 9th Mile Baridua on Monday after she allegedly attacked her husband with a sharp weapon at their residence and fled the scene on Sunday night.
The woman, identified as Poonam Bosper, was reportedly intercepted by local residents while walking along NH-27. She was subsequently brought before the local Dorbar for questioning and later handed over to Khanapara Police for further legal action.
The incident reportedly occurred a day earlier when Bosper allegedly attacked her husband, Sikander Lyngdoh, on the head with a sharp weapon, leaving him seriously injured.
According to the couple’s son, who was present at the residence, his father had returned home in the evening with meat for cooking. An argument then broke out between the couple and allegedly escalated into a physical altercation.
The son claimed that while his mother was preparing Maggi, she picked up a sharp weapon and allegedly struck his father on the head three to four times while he was sitting and watching television.
She then allegedly fled the residence and threw the weapon into a nearby forested area, the son claimed.
He further stated that Bosper later called her elder sister and informed her that she had attacked her husband, asking her to check on him.
Local headman Ioanis Narleng expressed concern over the incident and condemned the alleged attack, saying it had shocked residents as such an incident had reportedly not been witnessed in the locality in recent years.
He urged the authorities to take appropriate legal action in accordance with the law.
Police have taken Bosper into custody, while further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
