SHILLONG, MAR 8: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma marked International Women’s Day on Sunday by linking Meghalaya’s self‑help‑group drive and entrepreneur supports to the “give to gain” theme, saying women’s independence fuels broader progress.
In a social‑media message, Sangma wished women “who believe, dream, break barriers, and achieve so much more a very Happy International Women’s Day” and framed policy around choice and confidence.
Wishing all the incredible women who believe, dream, break barriers, and achieve so much more a very Happy International #WomensDay.

“In Meghalaya, women empowerment means ensuring that women have the freedom to make their own choices, achieve financial independence, and pursue their dreams with confidence,” he said.
He pointed to the state’s SHG network, startup aid for women founders and farmer‑welfare schemes as proof points.
“Through our strong SHG movement, support for women entrepreneurs, and farmer welfare programmes, we are witnessing the power of collective empowerment, truly reflecting this year’s theme, Give to Gain,” he wrote.
