Guwahati, Nov 14: A teacher has been suspended and nine senior students transferred to different schools following their alleged involvement in a ragging incident at an educational institution in Assam’s Morigaon district.

Vice Principal Dhrubajyoti Sharma has also been transferred to Mokokchung in Nagaland.

Additional District Commissioner (Education) Anusuya Sarma said the district administration, in coordination with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) authorities, suspended teacher Bishwajit Chowdhury for dereliction of duty as the House Master.

The action follows an alleged incident on November 5, when a group of senior students reportedly physically assaulted a junior student. A committee was subsequently formed by the district administration to probe the matter.

Parents of the senior students have been directed to submit undertakings affirming that their children will not engage in such misconduct in the future.
